Description:
For 5-wire analog touch panel, an uniform electric field is formed at bottom layering equal voltage at four corners. The upper layer is similar to a common ground layer. When touch panel is pressed, the controller electronics will detect the change of resistance on four corners at bottom layer and determine the location of the pressed point.
How five-wire touch screen works
The touch screen estimates the x-y coordinates on the glass layer and film layer, like a sensor sensing the electric pressure drop on the glass layer.
When a user touches the touch screen, the upper ITO-coated conductive layer(on film layer) touches the lower ITO-coated conductive layer(on glass layer), hence the controller recognizes the touch of upper and lower plates, then apply a voltage drop onto the lower ITO-coated layer to indicate the x-coordinate. The upper plate sensed the value of electric potentials and passes it to the controller. Then the controller translates it to an x-coordinate value. Meantime, the y-coordinate value is calculated in a same way.
Finally, these calculated x-y coordinate value are passed to the computer and the location of touch will be displayed out.
